Moonless Pestilence

Moonless Pestilence is a MÖRK BORG adventure, set in a scenario plagued by a contagious disease, where the cure may be the cause of it.  

It will include:

- A countdown doom clock for an impending lunar eclipse.

- Cosmic horror, such as aliens, ancient entities and scam.

- Approximately 5,000 words of content.

- Artwork by Prosaiko and M.A. Guax.

- Lunar eclipse random tables for events related to the approaching apocalypse.

There are widespread reports of a looming plague outbreak. Many animals in the village of Turdum, a small village in the forests of Sarkash, have died from an grotesque infection characterized by the appearance of pustules on the skin which eventually burst, consuming the victim from the inside out. Additionally, the bodies of the dead animals are found with bite marks on them. 

A traveling salesman arrives in the village, claiming to have a cure for the plague. Despite his shabby appearance, some villagers purchase the medicine from him. However, it turns out that this medicine is ineffective and instead causes a rapid onset of the plague in those who take it. In response, the villagers turn on the salesman, who flees into a nearby cave near the village healer's hut. Upon investigation, it is discovered that the village healer is dead from the plague and bottles of medicine are found nearby, opened. 

The villagers discover the healer had warned about the plague, and that an eclipse occured at the same time when she died, which she believed was a sign that the end was near. It's revealed that the true cause of the plague is the salesman, who had altered the labels on the medicine vials and infected some of them with the plague. 

The salesman was hiding in the cave near the healer's hut, which was actually the location of an extradimensional portal. The portal was sealed and maintained by the Healer, with her life and the life of the next portal guardians,. Now that she is dead, the portal begins to open again and more powerful monsters are coming through it. The portal can only be sealed again by using specific components and performing a ritual that is described in ancient books found in the healer's hut and with the help of an aware staff.
